After 1998 many new academic developments have taken place in the University. Four self finance institutions have been established which run the courses and training programme for Indian and foreign professionals including NRI candidates, as under:
Gujarat Ayurved University being a premiere institution of Ayurveda and W.H.O. collaborative centre, became a centre of attraction for foreigners. Students from Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Mauritius came here for regular P.G. degree course. The University started a three-month introductory course in Ayurveda in 1990. Since then students from the countries like Germany, Poland, England, Iceland, Switzerland, Netherlands, USA, Canada, Malta, Russia, Ukraine, Mongolia, Australia, Vietnam, Japan, Reunion Island had come to this University to study various courses. Since 1998 the University has broadened its objectives and set a goal to popularize Ayurveda, globally. Many new courses have been designed exclusively for foreign nationals.
To coordinate these activities and to provide exclusive information to foreign nationals, an International Centre for Ayurvedic Studies was established in 1999. This centre coordinates the admission of foreign nationals in various short-term and long-term courses and provide technical and administrative support to the students. At present five batches of students are studying in BAMS (English Medium) course at Shree GulabkunverbaAyurved Mahavidyalaya.
The University School of Continuing Education in Ayu (USCE) is a newly started department of Gujarat Ayu University, Jamnagar. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Ayu University visualized this dream project of a separate school for continuing education in the field of Ayua, which fulfills the lacunae, existed so far. He is of the opinion that the knowledge of this science should be there from a lay man to a highly educated corporate executive, for which this type of non-conventional school of education becomes essential.
